Just found this update that I never put online. Even though it is a little out of date I will put it up for now while I contemplate a more uptodate entry.

July 5, 2003

Well its Saturday after the July 4th holiday. This last week or so we're finally getting some real summer weather.

Went to see the Macy's 4th of July fireworks from the Brooklyn Heights promenade. My every decade or so fireworks. The fireworks were fine but they were just fireworks. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be, not that there weren't lots of people (there were) but I expected to be crushed but in reality there was plenty of room to walk around and find yourself a spot to wait.

The Brooklyn Heights promenade has a great view of the tip of Manhattan. Need to take a tour there when its not crowded with thousands of people.

Work continues at its usually pace. Sometimes its seems like you can never catch up then things slow a bit. Never at a standstill and always a backlog of things to do. Somewhat hectic in the runup to get Lane Bryant ecommerce online. That's done and working real well with some fine tuning here and there.

The next big challenge is moving the physical infrastructure to our corporate data center from our hosting site. If it were just moving servers and network gear it wouldn't be any big deal. But we need to try to do this with little or no website downtime. The big problem is moving the active database which is the center of the site. Probably have to have a couple of hours with the sites down in the middle of the night when we do it. Plans are in place and now its just a matter of executing.

On a very personal level, I have survived 55 years in this life. With a few exceptions, most most of them have been very good. As I say to anyone how asks life seems to get better as the years go by. Also now in the 28th year of marriage, almost half my life married to the same person. Looks like many, many more to come.

The Madeleine Peyroux website has moved along. I am in communications with Madeleine and the site is what I now call semi-official. Madeleine is definitely giving direction on what she wants on the site but she hasn't declared it official. Until she does I don't want to call it official. There is an informational mailing list with 44 people on it. All in all not a bad start.

The digital camera continues to serve me well. The biggest problem I have is that it takes so long to go through the photos to pick the ones to display on the site that I've got a backlog. Go to here to see what I have been up to and check back as I am constantly adding new pictures

Related to the pictures are the concerts we've been going to (since I take pictures whenever I can). It was a busy May & June seeing Kate Campbell, Rosanne Cash, Natalie McMaster, Suzy Boggus, Dar Williams, Linda Thompson, Mary Fahl and Manhattan Transfer. One of the benefits of living in NYC is there is always someone worth seeing.
