Live Music - Two Great Venues
New York is a great place for live music. You can go out every night of the week. Almost any type of music you could want is available. My musical taste run to Folk / Acoustic / Singer-Songwriter. That general description doesn't tell you everything since my musical selection can wander pretty far. I like to hear music where I can be close to the performers. Two of my favorite music clubs have the type of music I like and are nice and cozy. They are
The Living Room
in the Lower East Side and
Joe's Pub
near Astor Place. The Living Room is a low key room. There are usually 3 or 4 acts a night. Each act has about 45 minutes. Most of the time there is no cover charge, just a one drink minimum per act. The Living Room is a great place for new and up and coming acts to start. Many well known acts played at the Living Room at one time or another. If you want to enjoy some new music take yourself down to The Living Room. Joe's Pub is more upscale then The Living Room and tends to have better known acts from all over the world from almost any genre. The sound is great and they even have pretty good food. Both these venues are great places for music. If you have the opportunity to go hear live music do it. Support your favorite artist especially if they are just getting started.
